The heat in Mumbai is something that people are speaking about. I was in office and my staff was complaining about the miserable Mumbai heat. During a call with one of our official business partner based out of Bangalore or should I say politically correct Bengaluru telling me "I heard the heat is bad in Mumbai this time!"
I was thinking to myself, it is Election time, IPL time and yet people are speaking about the heat in Mumbai? Putting this thought at the back of my head, I started my day with some heated debate with a so called partner claiming to be a CMM level 5 organisation and yet forgetting the basics.
Walking out of my airconditioned cabin to the balcony outside our office, I got a taste of the Mumbai heat again. The balcony overlooks the Western Express Highway and I was watching the traffic pile up on the road owing to a traffic signal failure. I was watching the Telephone cable guys heaving and shouting as they were pulling a heavy telephone cable which was moving purely under the brute strength of these sweaty men working for daily wages. The cable hardly moved a few inches when they put it down and rested but to begin again.
As I was watching this wondering why they could'nt use an automatic cable layer or any other mechanical device available overseas. Why would'nt they think about the possible injuries they could come under? With all these thoughts in my head I was woken up with a rude sound and saw an convey of vehicles and many a people conducting a politcal rally for BJP.
The candidate waving out from the jeep bearing the Mumbai heat which by now was making me sweat liters of water, waving and smiling all the while. I was thinking to myself at least during elections the so called neta's actually feel the heat that a common man feels and yet hopes for a change in his life to be made by them. I saw the neta sweat and drink water and clearly upset with the traffic jam and the cable laying activites. I smiled to myself and thought "for once the Mumbai heat is doing its job well, roasting a neta who will forget all his promises once elected"
With this thought, I walked back into my office and enjoyed the airconditioned cabin, and I could hear the workers heaving and shouting as they pulled the heavy cable once again.
I hope for once the Mumbai heat will burn some sense into our leaders and at least make one neta sweat and faint with dehydration. Hoping to bring sense into him for the common man.
